"Planning" since 8 years
i used to work at Compaq (left a week or two before the HP buyout was announced, in the Summer of 2000) and still have several contacts within the company. They've been PLANNING on selling Linux PCs since about the year 2000. They talked about it a bit during my time there but made no serious efforts until after i left. They did, to my knowledge, have some small runs of Linux PCs but no commercial success so they dropped support for it. So, for them to "be planning" a line of Linux PCs is a story with very predictable plot:
- plan (with associated fanfare)
- commercial non-success
- quietly stop shipping them
