After installing, i found that the color webcam display looked ''green''.
I had faced the same issue when i installed and used skype in ubuntu 9.10.
The fix show below helped me at that time, it does rescue me this time also.

Since the very beginning, directories (of any kind) have had a very central role in the internet. (I have recently grown fond of Free Web Directory. Even Slashdot can be considered a directory: a collection of great news and invaluable user-generated comments. As far as software is concerned, doing a quick search on Google about software directories will return the free (as in freedom) software directories like Savannah, SourceForge, Freshmeat and so on, followed by shareware and freeware sites such as FileBuzz, PCWin Download Center and All Freeware (great if you're looking for shareware and freeware, but definitely less comprehensive than their free-as-in-freedom counterparts).
I read David Jonathon's article Anybody Up To Writing Good Directory Software? the other day, which got me thinking about software directories in general. As David mentioned, many of the software directories one finds when doing a quick google search are free as in beer, not as in freedom. But what interests me is the software directories that already exist, providing a combination of both free as in beer software, and open source software. Sites such as Freeware Downloads and Shareware Download don't advertise themselves as providing free as in liberty software, but each of them have a good selection of open source software available... if you know where to look.

Don't "resolve" Skype
Skip Skype altogether and use Free Software, instead.

Does Ekiga work with Skype yet?
Can you call people who use Skype from Ekiga yet? And does Ekiga work on Windows yet?
I ask because if Ekiga only runs on GNU/Linux and doesn't interoperate with Skype, people will never switch to Ekiga if the people they need to communicate with don't use Ekiga. There's no point in knowing how to speak French if there's no one for you to speak in French with.

re Does Ekiga
Ekiga users cannot call Skype users. This situation is Skype's intent. Skype's telephony network is a proprietary network and knowledge about it is secret known only to Skype. Society in general are forbidden to freely access this network. Since we (the free community) are forbidden to access Skype's network, it would be a useless effort to try to access it if the goal is for VOIP telephony.
Ekiga should be able to work on Windows. I can't confirm this as I don't bother with Windows at all.
Promoting Ekiga isn't a matter of popularity, it is a matter of promoting freedom. As many people don't care for freedom, they would probably not bother to switch from Skype to Ekiga. Since this article exists to promote Skype's system of subjugation, I wanted to counter this by promoting the existence of a freedom respecting alternative.

Ekiga & Skype
I know that Skype (like a lot of proprietary software) is designed to prevent interoperability with other programs. However, that doesn't always stop developers from getting their programs to interoperate. I just wondered if the Ekiga devs had worked it out.
I understand the promoting freedom angle and that popularity isn't everything. But there is no point having the freedoms that come with Ekiga if the people you need to communicate with aren't using something compatible with Ekiga. It's like crabs in a box.
The reason I asked whether Ekiga runs on windows is because then you can at least try and get people who are stuck with windows or unwilling to leave it to try out Ekiga instead of (or as well as) Skype.
Anyway, thanks for replying. I do appreciate and agree with the points you've raised. Unfortunately, being on high-morale ground can sometimes be lonely. :D
